EACH PERSON WHO ENTERS OUR DOORS IS FAMILY
Red’s Place was created with a promise;
the promise to provide a loving home and a
sense of honor and purpose for adults with autism spectrum disorder (ASD).
Currently there are only a handful of supportive living environments for developmental disabilities in
the US, however none are designed specifically for adults with ASD. The static housing supply for this clientele is grossly underserving the ever-increasing demand. Roughly 87% of adults with ASD live with their parents.
Red’s Place is working to provide a solution that alleviates the parents’ fear of what their child’s next
home may be.
The Red’s Place Way
Red’s Place provides supported apartment living. Residents live independently in one of our well-appointed 1-bedroom apartments. Each unfurnished apartment is equipped with a full bathroom, kitchenette, living room, and bedroom.
There are 2 available floor plans, and each allows for ample natural light with exterior windows in the bedroom and living room spaces.
Designed With the Resident in Mind
There are a few key elements that were considered while the building was being designed:
- Mechanical closets holding air handler and hot water heaters are located in the hallways to reduce maintenance access to the unit.
- Building design creates opportunities for natural engagement during meals and activities.
- Overnight observation desk on each floor provides peace of mind and added security.
- High impact drywall was used throughout the building and residential spaces.
- Sound levels and light interaction were factored into surface materials used throughout the building.
Personal Independence Coach
Each resident is paired with a personal coach who will know the ins and outs of every facet of the resident’s life – from the resident’s daily schedule and habits to medical needs to likes and dislikes. In reality, the coach is an on-site parent to the resident serving as both a guide and a consistent form of support.
Coaches:
- will have daily check-ins with residents to ensure the expectation of exceptional care at is being upheld.
- will provide regular updates to loved ones regarding resident growth, development, and engagement within the larger community.
- will coordinate resident services such as therapies, transportation to appointments and activities, and participation in recreational and professional opportunities.
